DAec German Indoor Aerobatics Championship 2012 – Coburg

Fantastic competition in fantastic hall (HUK-Coburg Arena) – Karl Ernst Overdick and Aero Club Coburg did an extraordinary job with organization. On Saturday evening there was a Show for visitors and more than 1000 spectators were there – incredible, I never saw so much spectators watching flying models; great publicity for F3P and aeromodelling! 42 pilots from 4 countries attended the competition and showed high-level quality of indoor aerobatic flying. It was interesting experience to judge F3P-C, so nice to see young pilots (some of them were 10 years old) flying so well. Great work from Martin Gulla who instructed team “Die Überflieger” – 6 young boys. Future in F3P is bright for sure. This competition was first international competition for my friend, Tomaz Bavdaz, who started to train with me this season. Competition went extremely good for him, he finished in second place in F3P-B, behind Marc Faulhaber. Good job! In F3P-A was very hard, like always. Gernots fingers and his new very nice “F3A-shaped” model with coaxial drive is incredible combination and he won well-deserved. I am very happy with my second place and success of my model Elanor Evo. There was a hard battle for 3rd place which included 4 German pilots. At the end, Dennis Horn was the best. In F3P-AM there were really nice flights. I enyojed every freestyle, I think that the quality in this class rises up very fast. There were close results in the top 3 positions. Young Marc flew really nice and he proved on the competitions this season to be the best German freestyle pilot. I tried to defend the title of German Champion from last year, but I did not suceed; Gernot was better at the end – for 1 promile. So close, but at the same time so far. 🙂 It was wonderful weekend in Coburg and fantastic end of this indoor season!
