This year also a pilot from other continent joined us – He Congfa from China. It was great to meet him. A lot of pilots flew extremely good! I guess that because in February there was first FAI F3P World Championship in Coburg. Pilots made a lot of trainings and preparations, and they raised the level in F3P quite much. World champion, Gernot Bruckmann, confirmed his tittle, and won also IITOP. Also junior world champion, Theo Catros, competed and presented his skills very well. It was a hard competition, but I managed to come to the finals in both categories and I am happy with results, especially because I made a short pause in F3P competitions. Congratulations to IITOP organizers, once again a perfect IITOP and lets hope to meet again next year!

DAec German Indoor Aerobatics Championship 2012 – Coburg http://personal.alanrcfly.com/2014/10/29/daec-german-indoor-aerobatics-championship-2012-coburg/ Wed, 29 Oct 2014 19:01:41 +0000 http://personal.alanrcfly.com/?p=581 Fantastic competition in fantastic hall (HUK-Coburg Arena) – Karl Ernst Overdick and Aero Club Coburg did an extraordinary job with organization. On Saturday evening there was a Show for visitors and more than 1000 spectators were there – incredible, I never saw so much spectators watching flying models; great publicity for F3P and aeromodelling! 42 pilots from 4 countries attended the competition and showed high-level quality of indoor aerobatic flying. It was interesting experience to judge F3P-C, so nice to see young pilots (some of them were 10 years old) flying so well. Great work from Martin Gulla who instructed team “Die Überflieger” – 6 young boys. Future in F3P is bright for sure. This competition was first international competition for my friend, Tomaz Bavdaz, who started to train with me this season. Competition went extremely good for him, he finished in second place in F3P-B, behind Marc Faulhaber. Good job! In F3P-A was very hard, like always. Gernots fingers and his new very nice “F3A-shaped” model with coaxial drive is incredible combination and he won well-deserved. I am very happy with my second place and success of my model Elanor Evo. There was a hard battle for 3rd place which included 4 German pilots. At the end, Dennis Horn was the best. In F3P-AM there were really nice flights. I enyojed every freestyle, I think that the quality in this class rises up very fast. There were close results in the top 3 positions. Young Marc flew really nice and he proved on the competitions this season to be the best German freestyle pilot. I tried to defend the title of German Champion from last year, but I did not suceed; Gernot was better at the end – for 1 promile. So close, but at the same time so far. 🙂 It was wonderful weekend in Coburg and fantastic end of this indoor season!

International Indoor Tournament of Paris 2012 http://personal.alanrcfly.com/2014/10/29/international-indoor-tournament-of-paris-2012/ Wed, 29 Oct 2014 18:57:12 +0000 http://personal.alanrcfly.com/?p=556 IITOP traditionally gathers best European F3P pilots. 63 pilots from 11 countries attended this wonderful competition. It seems that F3P category is growing and quality level is rising very fast. IITOP 2012 was outstadning in every sense – organization, quality of flying, variability of models, new features and number of pilots. In F3P-A FAI finals (13 best pilots) there were 11 different models flying. That shows the diversity of models used at IITOP very well. There were also a lot of special features on the models: two different kinds of co-axial propulsion units, carbon airframes, split rudders for braking, dual-ailerons, innovative airbrakes, super-light models,… In freestyle part of competition we saw quite much vector units (also with separated servo control) – on regular motors and on VPP units, some nice new special effects – smoke curtain, models with numerous LEDs ,…In other words, there was almost everything which exists in F3P. Quality of flying was really impressive and there was no space for mistakes. In preliminary flights pilot had to have almost 94% score of the winner to be in the top 10 position. For top 20 – almost 90%. I am happy with my performance and results at IITOP – I managed to come to finals in both categories and I finished on 7th place in F3P-A FAI and 5th place in F3P AeroMusicals. It was also great to meet old friends and get to know some new ones. See you at IITOP 2013!

12th International Cup of San Marino (F3A World Cup 2012) http://personal.alanrcfly.com/2014/10/29/12th-international-cup-of-san-marino-f3a-world-cup-2012/ Wed, 29 Oct 2014 18:52:53 +0000 http://personal.alanrcfly.com/?p=540 It was very nice competition in surroundings of beautiful landscape of San Marino. The atmosphere was very nice and friendly. Organizers did a great job, also the Saturday dinner was great! The new P13 and F13 schedules are very nice and challenging. I enjoyed to watch best Italian pilots mastering them very well. It seems that new schedules are flown very nicely with co-axial propulsion units (almost half of the pilots had it), although second place took the pilot with single propeller – Marco Mazzucchelli, junior World champion. Sebastiano Silvestri presented his new Mythos with co-axial drive very well and won the competition with his beautiful unique flying style. Mythos is successor of the proven design Wind S Pro and seems to be adopted for the new schedules. My friend Hannes Schenk flew very well and finished on 3rd position with Wind S Pro with co-axial drive. Congratulations! Hannes helped me very much in the competition; he was my caller and gave me advices to improve my flying. He is well deserved for my quite good result and improvement of flying in comparison to last year. Unique out-of-the-box model named Progress 3 from Peter Haase caught my attention. It has enormous moveable SFGs, two rudders and even impeller in the fuselage with inner rudder (for stall turns). I hope to manage to join also the next edition of this wonderful event!

It is great to have such events, which popularize modelling sport and encourage a lot of young kids for this wonderful activity. I am very grateful to Tomaž, he took some extraordinary pictures of my Extra and Galaxy!

47th International Igo Etrich competition for transitional Cup (F3A World Cup 2012) – Kraiwiesen http://personal.alanrcfly.com/2014/10/29/47th-international-igo-etrich-competition-for-transitional-cup-f3a-world-cup-2012-kraiwiesen/ Wed, 29 Oct 2014 18:47:29 +0000 http://personal.alanrcfly.com/?p=510 Like last year, competition was very well organized and the level of flying was very high. European vice champion 2012, Gerhard Mayr,   won the competition with unique and beautiful flying style. I was also impressed by the flying of Gernot. With coaxial motor, his plane Sensation flies extremely slow and precise, very nice to watch. I am happy with my flying, results and improvement. Thanks to Wolfgang and Patrick Hofmeier for all the help with calling and giving me some hints and instructions. This was also first international competition for slovenian 17 years old pilot Timotej Mencin. He made a big step forward this summer with a lot of training under his father supervision and some of my help and instructions. It was great to see such improvement. He made a good job at Kraiwiesen, congratulations!

European Indoor Aerobatics Championship (EIAC) 2012 http://personal.alanrcfly.com/2014/10/29/european-indoor-aerobatics-championship-eiac-2012/ Wed, 29 Oct 2014 18:44:08 +0000 http://personal.alanrcfly.com/?p=494 Jürgen Heilig and DMFV organizations started to organize Indoor Competitions in 2000. After 11 well-known German Indoor Aerobatics Championship they decided to organize First European Indoor Aerobatics Championship. 45 competitors from 8 European countries took part in this wonderful competiton. Indoor season barely started and a lot of pilots did not have enough time to prepare well for competition. Despite all, the level of flying was extremely high. It was very nice to meet colleagues from all over Europe again and to meet some new pilots. F3P grows bigger and bigger and I am very happy to be part of this great new sport.

It seems that every year there is very nice, friendly atmosphere and night flying till 3 AM. There was also very nice EP Indoor Race competition (around obstacles and pylons). I competed with new improved models. Elanor EVO (with 4 ailerons) and Giles G-202 4D.

I became DAeC German Champion in F3P-AM. Also in F3P-A I did very well,  I won two rounds (3rd in P09 and 2nd in F09). I used the same models as in Switzerland, Elanor EVO and Giles G-202 4D. Besides that it was great to meet friends again in another traditionaly-great organized competitions in Germany. I was very fascinated by the flying of Marc Faulhaber. At the age of 11 he flys just amazing!

I was very impressed with quality of organization and flying on this competition. F3A has a very long tradition and many very good pilots compete in this category. I was happy with my performance there, I learned a lot and finnaly got true insight about what is need to be done to have good result in F3A.
